INFRASTRUCTURE

·         The Melissotheque of the Aegean: Creation of the first systematic reference collection of bees and other pollinators in Greece, open to scientists, researchers and instructors. It is accommodated in the laboratory and presently includes ca. 40.000 insects collected on Lesvos Island. It is maintained within the framework of research programmes (e.g. the ALARM project).

·         Museum of Salt: The laboratory played the leading role in the foundation of the first Greek Museum of Salt, opened in 2002, in a renovated building in the salt-pans of Polichnitos. The restoration and museological work was carried out within the framework of the ALAS project.
